Serena Williams, for sure, knows how to steal the spotlight – whether with her GS victories or running commentary. Two weeks earlier, Serena graced Kendrick Lamar’s performance with her iconic crip walk at the Super Bowl LIX and the headlines were all about her. Fast forward to two and half weeks, and she was in another arena but this time as a co-owner and supporter of her team LAGC. Guess what? She caught all the attention again, however, with mic in hand this time and of course, with her dance moves. Serena’s presence at the TGL became a bit of a buzz. And why not? It was Serena after all, getting herself immersed in a different sport altogether.

Williams graced Florida’s SoFi Center to witness LAGC’s epic win against New York Golf Club in the TGL. LAGC ended up winning the contest by 5-4 through overtime, receiving a playoff spot in the Tiger Woods backed golf event. Despite lagging by 4-0 on the 12th tee, LAGC kept their hope alive with Sahith Theegala’s 28-foot birdie. After that, the club used the Hammer to double the hole’s value. And their victory was confirmed by Tony Finu’s swift tackle at par-4 13th hole.

The victory delighted Serena Williams, who was captured by the cameras expressing her joy. The clip was later shared by the official Instagram pages of ESPN, TGL Golf, PGA Tour, and LAGC. Seated beside Philadelphia Eagles’ Avonte Maddox and Dllas Goedart, the WTA legend raised her arms to move them along the music. The reel soon caught Williams’ husband Alexis Ohanian’s attention who acknowledged it with a caption that echoed his thrill, “Put it in my veins,” he wrote. Later, Serena shared that clip on her own IG story as well.

However, the moment which caught everyone in sweet delight, seemed quite embarrassing for Serena’s elder Olympia, who continuously tried to pull her mother’s hands down. But her mother? Well, she just smiled and had her moment.

While Serena is attending the TGL matches to have fun and support her team, her commentary in LAGC’s match against Jupiter on February 14 caught quite a bit of attention. After the 15-hole showdown, the 2012 Olympic gold medalist shifted her role and joined ESPN’s Matt Barrie to drop her expert opinion. Not everyone received it well though, as it drew a bit of a backlash on ESPN’s X post, dated 15th February.

However, Serena hardly cares about the negativity. She enjoyed her time and that’s all that matters.

Serena William called her TGL experience “Wild”

In an interview with ESPN earlier, Serena expressed immense joy about having attended the event as a team owner and having had the experience of this innovative golf league. “It’s so exciting to be here as a team owner and just get a different look at things. It’s so wild. It’s something you see a little bit in tennis or all the time in basketball, right? We don’t really see it in golf. Actually, we never see that in golf. It’s so good to see their personalities and see them shine as golfers, as they are,” she said.

The 23-time GS winner attended LAGC’s match against Arthur Banks on 17th February as well and turned it into a family affair by bringing his husband and elder daughter (two other co-owners of LAGC) as well. She shared a reel on her IG story, featuring her husband, who enthusiastically said “Hi” to their followers. Their elder daughter Olympia, who sat beside her mother, echoed her mother’s sentiment with a victory sign.
