Can Leylah Fernandez's sisterly support be the secret weapon she needs to conquer the Cincinnati Open?

Nothing beats having your family by your side and Canada’s Leylah Fernandez would agree. After setbacks in Wimbledon and the Canadian Open, Fernandez tried her luck in the Cincinnati Open. She also performed well moving to the next round. While people are impressed by her performance, Fernandez discloses how the credit goes to her sister Bianca.

Fernandez defeated China’s Yue Yuan in the Cincinnati Open’s Round of 64 3-6, 6-4, 6-3 yesterday. After her victory, the Canadian player was cheered on by her family, who are traveling with her in Cincinnati. Tennis Channel’s Prakash Amritraj inquired her about having family by her side, sayingIt’s a different kind of support, isn’t it?

Fernandez responded, “Yes it is. You know I’ve been traveling with my dad for a very long time. So, it’s so good to have him there, but I haven’t seen my sister like all year, and you know, having her there was super fun. Like last night we’re actually sharing a room, so we are talking smack about each other every minute,” Fernandez said.

Leylah [Fernandez] always traveled before but I was always home, so I think the toughest thing was actually to my sister, who used to come home and I was there with open arms and now I am at school,” Bianca said.
