Chris Evert might have hit a rocky road quite a lot of times in her romantic relationships, but she always shared a heartfelt bond with her family. Be it her sisters, children, or her mother. So, when Evert’s mother was struggling with her health, an Oscar-winning movie came to her rescue, the Sound of Magic. Evert got nostalgic thinking about the same thing when she came across another fan of the astoundingly beautiful movie.

Evert has made it her life’s agenda now to focus on treasuring the relationships that she has with her kids, friends, and family. From being a star who lived her life according to people’s expectations, Evert has taken the long journey to be happy and be her own self.

The history of diseases has not been very favorable for the Evert family. Her sister passed away from cancer in 2020, and her father, albeit living a long life, was not in a good state by the end of his time. Another family member who also suffered in the Evert household was her mother. She had shown early signs of dementia and at that point, like every patient, things started to become difficult for her.

However, at that time, one movie that made things easy for her was the ‘Sound of Magic’. The Academy Award-winning movie was released 20 years ago, and it brought a heartfelt story to the public. It brought solace too many, and one such person was Evert’s mother. The 18-time Grand Slam winner expressed the same when American TV journalist, Elizabeth Vargas, tweeted about the movie.

Evert quoted Vargas’ tweet and wrote, I’m totally with you….When my mom was showing signs of dementia, we watched it every day, it made her so happy!”

The tennis legend’s mother passed away at the age of 92 in 2020. Colette Evert was one of the most exemplary tennis parents. According to Evert, she not only supported her dreams, but was considerate of others’ struggles as well.

The American tennis legend Chris Evert might have left Andy Mill for his best-friend Greg Norman in 2006. However, she is not proud of that and time and again has mentioned her regret in taking that step. Despite the bitter end to their marriage, Mill has been there for her as her friend during the toughest battle of her life. Evert once disclosed how he was there for her during all her six chemotherapy sessions with her.

In May, Evert announced that she was finally free from cancer. Now, she has resumed her work with ESPN as one of their core commentators along with the likes of John McEnroe.

What are your thoughts on Colette Evert’s coping mechanism? Are you a fan of the same movie?
