Only a few tennis greats started their illustrious tennis journey with some incredible performances while using a wooden racquet. The American tennis legend, Chris Evert, was one of them. Way before graphite rackets became the norm, tennis rackets were made using wood and had longer handles. These kinds of wooden rackets were commonly used by some of the pro tennis athletes of that era. Notably, an old photo of the 18-time singles Grand Slam champion with a wooden racquet in her hand recently resurfaced on social media.

However, the former world No. 1 was quite confused why the photo, in which she was posing with a wooden racket, was taken in the first place. Evert further shared that vintage photo of hers on social media. The former tennis player also added a caption suggesting her bewilderment about the ad.

A slew of tennis fans have always hailed the 18-time singles Grand Slam champion on social media for both her achievements and fashion sense. Notably, reminiscing about another great moment of Chris Evert, one of the fans shared an old photo that featured her posing with a wooden racket. The fan further added a caption to that vintage photo by stating, “old nostalgic memory.”

The former American tennis player took note of that vintage photo and she quickly recognized that it was a wooden racquet in her hand that was used back in the day. Evert further expressed her confusion over the advertisement photo and why it was taken in the first place. She stated, “Wood racket!!! And… I’m trying to figure out what I’m advertising here!😳🤷♀️”

Meanwhile, one of the fans revealed that the old photo in question was from a vintage poster from the sports magazine, ”Sportstar”. The fan revealed, “You weren’t advertising anything. Sportstar was a magazine out of India, and they always included a poster. You, Steffi, a number of other tennis stars were featured. The “Relive The Sensation” was a tag line on the posters.”

Evert also reacted to a photo of Billie Jean King
The initial conversation started with the 18-time singles Grand Slam champion commenting on a photo posted by her compatriot, Billie Jean King. Evert reacted to a photo in which the 12-time singles Grand Slam champion was spotted playing tennis with other former tennis players.

King was in South Africa where she was captured with the former players and her friends, Merle Kloss Blackman, Ilana Kloss, and Rosie Casals. Evert commented on that photo by stating that it was a great photo. She further said that King, along with all the other former tennis players, looks healthy and fit as they still showed some greatness on the court.
