Is Aryna Sabalenka's raw power the future of women's tennis, or just a flash in the pan?

This Belarusian WTA star defeated America’s promising player Emma Navarro at Arthur Ashe. While Sabalenka became the favorite of former player Andy Roddick, she has achieved an astounding feat in the tournament. Sabalenka is hitting the fastest topspin forehand in Flushing Meadows. According to Eurosport, the Australian Open champion defeated top ATP stars like Novak Djokovic, Carlos Alcaraz, and Jannik Sinner to bag first place.

Sabalenka’s average fastest forehand speed record is 129km/h (80.16 mph). Alcaraz takes the second place with a 127km/h (78.91 mph) average speed. After the Spaniard, Jannik Sinner and Djokovic came in third and fourth positions with 126km/h (78.29 mph) and 122km/h (75.81 mph) average forehand topspin speed. Sabalenka’s achievement surprised former player Chris Evert, who tweeted showing her surprise and delight about the news.

Sabalenka’s forehand skill showcases her brilliance in the sport. Apart from the fastest forehand speed, Sabalenka earned much praise for another interesting skill in her journey to earn her maiden Grand Slam title in Melbourne. In her finals against Elena Rybakina in the Australian Open last year, Sabalenka hit groundstrokes of a staggering 87 mph.

When Sabalenka defeated Poland’s Magda Linette in the semifinals of the 2023 Australian Open, she learned about her fastest forehand skills. An Australian media publication Nine compared the Belarusian with Matteo Berrettini, an ATP player with record-holding fastest forehand in men’s game. It was when Sabalenka hit forehands at an average 87mph speed.
