Last year, the Spanish-Venezuelan tennis player paused her career after an early exit at the Lyon Open. Despite winning two Grand Slam titles, she’s currently inactive and had no plans to return as she mentioned last year.
Muguruza was “taking a real break” staying away from the court
Last year, in an interview with Women’s Health at the Zumba instructors’ event in Malaga the 30-year-old tennis player revealed that she has no intentions or plans of returning. She said, “Today I have no intention of returning. My plan right now is to sleep, rest, be with my loved ones, make up for lost time. I don’t see beyond what I’m doing today, tomorrow, and this week.”
Along with that, she clearly highlighted how she was focused on making up for the time she had lost, by spending it with her loved ones and getting rest. “Tennis has no place in my routine. I still pay attention to my teammates, from time to time I can play but not intensely but more for fun. It doesn’t occupy my mind, my day, or my routines. I’m really taking a real break & trying to stay away from the courts,” she said.

In the same interview, she further said, “My motivation is always very high, but in a world as competitive as high-level tennis, I hold on very strongly to the fact that if I don’t train, my opponents will and they will beat me because they will be more prepared.”
Considering her comments, the biggest question is: will she turn the tables and return to tennis, or are there other things on her mind? Nevertheless, what are your thoughts on Muguruza getting ready for an announcement? Do let us know in the comment section below.
