Serena Williams‘s businessman husband might be the boss of his company, but the scene is quite different at home. Ohanian’s pancake sessions with Olympia have gained a separate fanbase. Now that Father’s Day is coming, the fraternity is intrigued to know whether the Williams-Ohanian family has plans for something out of the box. However, on being asked about it, Williams revealed a hilarious secret, showing a snippet of their healthy relationship.

At the Tribeca 2024 Festival, Serena Williams spoke about her premiering docuseries In the Arena: Serena Williams. The four-time Olympic gold medalist revealed a funny fact about celebrating Father’s Day in the Ohanian-Williams family. Referring to Olympia’s pancake-making sessions with her day, one reporter questioned whether Olympia is on a role reversal this time for her father. “We don’t celebrate Father’s Day“- responded Williams hilariously taking a jibe at her Reddit co-founder husband, Alexis Ohanian.

The family has a Sunday tradition, where father and daughter indulge in a pancake-making session. Ohanian once spoke about how his father inspired him to do it for Olympia, as the tradition is mostly about the father-daughter moments. He added that he makes pancakes with Olympia to teach her self-sufficiency.

“When I was growing up, my dad would make pancakes every Sunday. They were delicious, but it wasn’t just about the food. It was about being together.” The entrepreneur kept the tradition alive, “So on Sunday mornings I make breakfast for the family and it doesn’t cost me a thing, except for gluten-free flour (I had to modify Dad’s recipe a bit), some eggs, almond milk, a secret ingredient, and berries (Olympia loves raspberries).”

Not only did Ohanian delight his fans with their adorable moments, he also revealed how Olympia’s creative knack inspired her once to make hamburger-shaped pancakes. That is why the reporter was keen to ask whether the tradition would see a new charge on the 16th of June.

However, Serena Williams’s response brought a hilarious moment for the interviewer and the fans. Serena was, as usual, taking a funny jibe at her husband. On the other hand, Father’s Day has meant special for Alexis Ohanian since Olympia was born. He revealed how special it was for him for the first time.

Writing on his blog, Ohanian spoke about how he felt on his first Father’s Day and how he likes to celebrate special occasions with the “good stuff”. “The day I found out I was going to be a father was the day I started changing my lifestyle.” He also said, “When I do choose to toast to a special milestone (like Father’s Day), I like to have a glass of the good stuff—Johnnie Walker Blue Label”- said Ohanian.

He also mentioned how, from the very beginning, after Olympia’s birth, he found several ways to connect with his firstborn. “I’m finding ways to connect with her even at this early age that are special for the two of us. Most of them involve me making her feel like she’s either in a jet, rocketship, or racecar, but between the sound effects and all the movement she really has a great time.” 

He further stated how he spoke to her in German but wished he could speak French to understand what Serena Williams and her nanny said to her. He worried a secret plot could be in the works as it could become their secret language. With Adira in the picture too, Alexis can have two glasses of Blue Label and add another member to their pancake entourage.
