With a Cincinnati victory in her hand, the 19-year-old Coco Gauff displayed how anything is possible. And after winning two titles in three weeks, the sixth-ranked tennis player is ready for her New York tennis ride. While she claimed her first WTA 1000 title, her doubles partner, Jessica Pegula, on the other hand, won the Canadian Open, creating a new generation of American tennis players.

Well, after sweeping off the Cinny and Canadian in the same year, something that was even not achieved by Venus and Serena Williams‘ legacy as American tennis players, both young minds are ready to conquer the tennis world. After achieving this feat, the 19-year-old paid an amazing tribute to the iconic tennis duo, bringing their inspiration to the story.

Coco Gauff pays a humorous tribute to Williams’ sisters

After sizzling at the Western and Southern Open, the 6th-ranked tennis player appeared in an interview with the WTA about the record-breaking stats she and Pegula created as Americans. Both of them lifted the Cincinnati Masters and Canadian Open in the same year, making the Americans proud of their contribution to the sport.

While there are a lot of records that have been broken by the Williams sister duo, lifting the Cinny and Canadian was something that they were not able to achieve. After creating an amazing history, the 19-year-old shared a glorifying tribute to the Williams sisters with a pinch of humor.

She said, “I’m just happy that we’re able to still hold it down. The Williams sisters carried the country for so long. Not that Jess and I are the Williams sisters (laughs), but we did one thing that they didn’t do and they did a lot of things that we’ll probably never do, but that’s okay.”

Subsequently, as she was quite happy to achieve this amazing feat, she also pulled humor hinting out how she and her 29-year-old doubles partner are not sisters like the Williams. On the other hand, the third-ranked tennis player also shared her reaction to her and Gauff winning the women’s singles titles in two different tournaments, respectively.

Pegula’s reaction after achieving his brilliant feat 

After both tennis players created records, the WTA shared a congratulatory message on X regarding how both of them have made history since 2004. Well, since Cincinnati returned in 2004 as a part of the WTA tool, this is the first time two Americans have won both Cinny and Canada. The 29-year-old shared that WTA post, and wrote, “Consider it swept,” sharing her contribution to American tennis history.

Although Pegula had a disappointing run in Cincinnati, her doubles partner didn’t disappoint her and claimed her amazing victory for the country. Nevertheless, it will be amazing to see what lies next for Gauff and Pegula in the tennis arena.
