Caroline Wozniacki, the Danish tennis professional, is well known for her defensive style of playing and amazing footwork. People also admire her endurance, as she would patiently wait for the opponent to break down and make a mistake so that she could strike them down.

In the year 2020 post-Australian Open, the former world no.1 retired from professional tennis, bringing an end to her legacy. However, she played one last game to bid farewell to tennis and her marvelous career.

A Perfect Goodbye From Caroline Wozniacki

Caroline was supposed to play her last game in 2020. However, due to Covid-19, it got shifted to the year 2022. Caroline played her final game against her close friend and fellow tennis player, Angelique Kerber in Royal Arena Copenhagen.

Post the match, she was overwhelmed with joy when people flooded social media, thanking her for her contribution to the game. She later shared an array of stories to express her gratitude. One of them was a tribute from Adidas which used her past statement. “I would like to be one of the best in the world and win a Grand Slam. That’s my biggest goal.” Portraying how far she has come since when she started.

Although it was a friendly match, Wozniacki didn’t slack off. She played with all her dedication and outclassed the 3 times Grand Slam champion Kerber by 7-5, 6-4. Thus, claiming victory in her last game in attendance of her close ones.

Wozniacki’s Tennis Career

Wozniacki outshined every other junior tennis player when younger and turned professional in the year 2005. Thereafter she took the tennis world by storm and stunned everyone by winning the WTA newcomer of the year award.
However, this was just the beginning of all the wonders she had under her sleeves. She later claimed 30 titles in singles and 2 in doubles in her quest to conquer all sorts of courts. Further, in 2010, she was ranked as high as world no.1 by WTA, which she held for 71 weeks.

However, Caroline Wozniacki isn’t all about glories. Be it losing her form or injuries keeping her on the sidelines, she has faced her share of hardships as well. Therefore, it won’t be wrong to say former Grand Slam champion has been through everything that makes a player complete.
