Serena and Venus Williams, due to their pure dominance on the tour over the past two decades, have become household names in women’s tennis. The sisters from Compton, California have combined to win an astounding 30 Grand Slam singles titles.

However, with both turning 40, we are possibly witnessing the final leg of the legendary duo’s tennis careers. While Serena makes her return this week at Wimbledon in the singles draw, Venus was also spotted practicing at SW19 ahead of a potential mixed doubles return.
Venus ecstatic for Serena Williams’ return
Serena Williams will make her long-awaited return on Centre Court on Tuesday against Harmony Tan. Her elder sister Venus will be watching ardently from her box as she returns from a lengthy absence. In a post on Instagram, Venus displayed her excitement over her sibling’s comeback.

She said in one of her stories, “Can’t wait to support @serenawilliams tomorrow.” Serena’s last competitive match came at last year’s Wimbledon, where she suffered a hamstring injury in her first-round match. However, since then she has missed nearly a year from the WTA Tour, while falling outside the Top 400 in the rankings.

Serena got some much needed practice on grass last week at the Eastbourne International partnering World No.2 Ons Jabeur. She will look to make a deep run at Wimbledon, a venue where she has claimed 7 Championships.

Will Venus Williams return to Wimbledon in mixed doubles?
After Venus was spotted practicing at the All-England Club, there was speculation of her return as well. Venus last played at Wimbledon in 2021, losing in the quarter-finals, while her last competitive appearance came in August at the Chicago Open.

Since then, she has been rehabilitating after suffering various injuries in the last few seasons. However, with a possible mixed doubles return on the cards, we could see Venus back in action.
