Leylah Fernandez, the Canadian tennis player, announced exciting news for her fans on Instagram. She formally launched the Leylah Annie and Family Foundation. The Canadian athlete claims that the foundation’s mission is to promote education and sports to the quality of life for families and children.


Fernandez claimed that students who need financial aid will be given scholarships for higher education as part of the program. The organization will also help youngsters who succeed in any sport. Fernandez was excited to share the news on her Insta stories.

Fernandez achieved her first professional tennis singles title in 2019. She defeated fellow Canadian Carson Branstine in the Gatineau Challenger final. In the same year, Fernandez won her first doubles match as a professional alongside Vancouver’s Rebecca Marino. Fernandez kicked off the 2022 season elegantly at aide International. She advanced to the round of 16, where Iga Swiatek defeated her in two sets to send her packing. In the opening round of the Australian Open, the 23rd seed lost to Maddison Inglis. Fernandez recently made an enthusiastic announcement about the launch of her new foundation on Instagram.

She shared that everybody is welcome to submit a scholarship application for the fall of 2023. The reel spun further, revealing more information on the Foundation’s awards and scholarships. She added to her Insta reel, “My family and I, started this foundation because we believe in access to character-building and life-changing opportunities.” The foundation believes that access to education and sports should never be limited to kids.

She further added in her reel, “My family has made great sacrifices to help me achieve my dreams. Built off generations of hardship, my family has allowed me and my sisters to be where we are today.” Fernandez further added how the foundation is an extension of her family. She wants to help create opportunities for other children and individuals with the same passion and motivation. She can’t wait for what the future holds and all the work the foundation is going to accomplish.

Fernandez is prepared for her 2023 campaign

The Canadian is excited to begin her new season since she wants to improve upon her performance from 2022. Fernandez is going to start her 2023 season at the Auckland ASB Classic. Fernandez’s challenging 2022 season was heavily influenced by injuries. Fernandez was forced to sit out for more than two months after making it to the French Open quarterfinals, and his season was only allowed to include 36 tour-level matches.
