Bianca Andreescu, the Canadian tennis sensation, has recently found herself in an unusual and somewhat frustrating situation even before playing her first-round match at the prestigious Wimbledon Championships. Contrary to how the tournament looks from afar, athletes participating in the matches face challenges every day.

It is not news that unseeded players like Bianca are faced away with more challenges than sportspersons who are slightly more privileged. Owing to the unfair scheduling at Wimbledon, Bianca finally breaks her silence and confronts the media with a shocking statement.

The unusual scheduling at Wimbledon, which saw Andreescu waiting for four days before stepping onto the court for her first-round match, has raised questions about the potential impact on her performance. The delay could be attributed to a combination of factors, such as the tournament’s strict adherence to tradition – including the Middle Sunday rest day – and the unpredictable British weather, which has been known to cause disruptions to the schedule.

Owing to the same, in an interview with The Tennis Letter, she said, ?It’s frustrating having to wait around, especially when other players are in R3. But it is what it is. That’s life right now for many of us.? For an athlete like Andreescu, who thrives on momentum and rhythm, the prolonged wait could potentially affect her game in several ways.

Another potential concern is the impact of the delay on Andreescu’s overall tournament schedule. With her first-round match pushed back, she could potentially face a more condensed schedule in the subsequent rounds, resulting in less time for rest and recovery between matches. This could take a toll on her physical and mental stamina, particularly if she progresses deep into the competition.

Bianca also points to the difference in the schedule of players who are seeded and who aren?t

After expressing her frustration over having to wait for four days just to get to the first round of the tournament, Bianca also pointed to the unfair treatment that players who are not seeded have to go through. A lot of matches were suspended due to the bad weather conditions which elaborated the waiting period. But this was not the case for seeded players.

In the same interview, she said about having to wait for 4 days, ?Those things I can’t control until I’m seeded again (smiling). It?ll be very soon?. Her sly remark was on the fact that seeded players are not waiting for such a long period for their rounds. They are getting to play on courts with roofs. But since she is not seeded so she has to wait for her turn to play on the fringe courts.
