When Venus turned pro in 1994, she introduced in the game a new type of athleticism and power, hitting sharp returns, running around the court and serving at breakneck speed. She and her sister Serena Williams have been the face of the WTA circuit for quite some time. Trained by her father Richard Williams, Venus has tasted the pinnacle of success in the hay days of her career.

The seven-time Grand Slam champion has been at the top of the WTA rankings in both singles and doubles which is a rare feat indeed.

Even though she is known for her skill with a racquet, she is also highly multifaceted. Not only is she a successful businesswoman, with her own fashion line, but she is also an executive producer of late. She and her Serena recently were involved in the making of the film King Richard. It stars Will Smith in the titular role and is about Serena and Venus’s father, who shaped them into the athletes they are today.

“It’s not something that comes overnight… It’s something that continues to click over time, but once you get started then it’s easier than the start,” Venus said about her personal affinity for learning languages.

For someone as legendary on-court as Venus is, her grasp on different languages is amazing and it just goes on to show her amazing thirst to be in constant touch with things outside tennis.
