Is Coco Gauff's influence in pop culture surpassing her tennis achievements at just 20 years old?

Coco Gauff is living the dream, and she’s only 20! Not only is she racking up wins on the tennis courts, but she’s also shining in some pretty special ways off of it. The latest? A musical shoutout from none other than Tyler, the Creator, who dropped her name in his newest track, sending fans (and Gauff herself!) into a frenzy. But there’s more to this story—turns out, her boyfriend, Jalen Sera, had already seen it coming!

The American tennis sensation engaged in an interview with the reporters ahead of the WTA finals and deliberated on a wide range of topics. When asked about her reaction to the latest track– Thought I was D-ad by Tyler, the Creator from his upcoming album Chromakopia, which mentions the name of the star player, Gauff expressed immense happiness. But interestingly, she claimed that her boyfriend had already predicted something like this to happen.

When quizzed about her reaction to the song, Gauff said that she has been a huge fan of the singer since she was just 14 years old. “I saw him perform live when I was 15 for the first time. I went to his music festival last year, I have tickets to go again this year. Hopefully, he performs that song. It would be pretty cool to see that live.” Remember, in the track released by the American rapper, it was Gauff’s tennis prowess that took center stage. Around the 28-second mark, fans can hear Tyler rapping, “B–ch, you ain’t Coco Gauff, you can’t serve me.” Hence, if the rapper actually performs it live in Gauff’s presence, it would actually mean a lot for the player, who did not expect it in the first place.

I was not expecting it. It was crazy, because, like, he DM’d me congratulations over China Open. We never talked or anything before. He liked my photo or something when I won US Open,” Gauff added. But while this was surprising for Gauff, her boyfriend already had some idea like this. “Then my boyfriend is like, Watch, he’s going to drop you in a song. I was like, Yeah, that would be insane. That’s never going to happen. Three weeks later it happened. I was like, Can he see into the future or what?” the 20-year-old claimed in the interview. And who better to understand a musician than someone who is equally interested in music?

For those unversed, Sera’s Instagram bio reads, “Artist” signifying his interest in art forms. Besides, Gauff also revealed his passion for music while talking to Vogue and said, “He’s a very nice guy. He’s about to apply for music school.” Detailing his passion further, Gauff revealed, “He wants to be an actor and he plays the guitar.” Earlier, Sera expressed immense happiness when Gauff was featured in the latest song. Taking to his Instagram, he wrote, YACGYCSM,” signifying his loss for words. Meanwhile, Gauff’s fondness for music is also deep-rooted and she has often revealed how it helps her remain stoic.
