Taylor Townsend’s Miami Open opponent criticized the former’s act causing controversies
This American WTA star was allegedly called out by her opponent Lucia Bronzetti at the final set of their match. During this match, Bronzetti was running to the baseline when Townsend hit the ball assuming that the ball would go wide. However, the ball hit Bronzetti’s racquet, which the umpire missed and offered points to Townsend. According to Bronzatti, she deserved the points as Townsend started the play and allowed Bronzatti to earn it.
However, the line umpire missed it and Townsend didn’t correct the umpire since it helped her with the points. This act made Bronzatti super pissed. She took her Instagram and wrote– “Don’t know which is worse… the chair umpire or the player who denied it.”
