World no.1 Iga Swiatek has been sensational this year as she won six consecutive tournaments, including the French Open title recently. Earlier, she showed her dominant display in the French Open and won the final pretty easily. Notably, she defeated the American Coco Gauff in the final to win her second Grand Slam title.

After a successful clay-court season, the Pol was looking forward to dominating the grass court as well. Unfortunately, Swiatek suffered an injury setback that could jeopardize her participation in Wimbledon 2022.
Iga Swiatek withdraws from the Berlin Open due to injury
Earlier, the Polish player took to Twitter and announced that she has been feeling discomfort in her shoulder. As a result, she will miss the grass court event of the season in Berlin. “Due to a recurrent discomfort I am feeling in my shoulder, unfortunately I need to withdraw from the bett1open in Berlin. I’m sorry I will not be able to play there. I will focus on recovery and rest in order to be ready for Wimbledon,” Swiatek wrote on Twitter.

Meanwhile, Wimbledon is just three weeks away and this will be a big blow for the world no.1. Currently, we don’t know the severity of the injury, but it could impact her massively at Wimbledon. Also, this could be a precautionary measure from her team to avoid any further injuries.
Earlier, she also missed the Madrid Open due to an injury, and then she came back Italian Open and won it.
Swiatek has been sensational in 2022
A few months ago, Swiatek won the Qatar Open by beating Anett Kontaveit in the final. Since then, she has been unplayable in tournaments, as she won 6 back-to-back tournaments in a row. Moreover, she won 35 consecutive matches on the WTA tour.

After winning the final of the French Open, she matched Venus Williams‘ record of winning 35 back-to-back matches. If she wins her next match, she will break Venus’ record as the first woman since 2000 to win 35 matches in a row.
Meanwhile, she has only played Wimbledon once and reached the round of 16 in 2021. With her current form, she has a very good chance of winning two Grand Slam titles in a row.
