23-time Grand Slam champion Serena Williams has already announced her participation after the Wimbledon Championships, as she prepares for the Rogers Cup in Toronto. Meanwhile, fans are still eager to see her sister Venus Williams to announce her comeback as well.

It seems like the older Williams sister will also make her return to singles competition as she announced the good news to her fans.

After Serena Williams, Venus also announced her entry at Rogers Cup 2022

The seven-time Grand slam champion received a wild card at the National Bank Open, also known as the Rogers Cup. Earlier, her younger sister, Serena, also got an entry in this competition through protected ranking.

Notably, Venus last played in a singles match in August last year at the Chicago Open. In that tournament, she lost in the opening round to Hsieh Su-wei.

Since then, the American has not played on the singles tour for more than a year. Recently, she made her comeback at the Wimbledon Championships, by taking part in the mixed doubles competition with British star Jamie Murray. The duo reached the fourth round at SW19.

At the Rogers Cup, the 42-year-old will make her singles comeback. Incidentally, she made her debut in this competition back in 1995 and this year, Venus will make her 11th appearance at the event. The American doesn’t have a great record at the Rogers Cup as she won just 2 matches out of the 9 she had played.

Serena announces another great news for fans

While Venus is getting ready for her singles return, Serena eyes to make her presence felt at the US Open. After the Rogers Cup, she will take part in the Cincinnati Open.

It appears as if Serena is doing everything possible to get into the best shape before the US Open. Notably, before playing her first match at the Wimbledon Championships, Serena only played two doubles matches; she did not play any singles match. Hence, she suffered a shocking loss in the first round at Wimbledon.
