Over the past few years, Naomi Osaka doesn’t exactly have happy memories of her playing at the French Open; as well as at the Wimbledon Championships. Unfortunately, continuing the same trend , Osaka lost to Amanda Anisimova in straight sets at Roland Garros on Monday.

Naomi Osaka unsure about her Wimbledon participation
Speaking in the post-match press conference about the next Grand Slam(Wimbledon), Osaka clearly remained uncertain about the possibility of playing at SW19.
““I’m someone who gets motivated by the idea of rising in the rankings. The intention of this measure was good, but the execution is all over the place.”
Osaka is not 100% sure about playing Wimbledon because of the points situation.

While Osaka supported WTA’s decision to strip Wimbledon off ranking points. But it appears clear that there isn’t enough motivation for her to play Wimbledon without ranking points. Also, the fact that grass isn’t Osaka’s favorite surface might add more weight to this skeptical statement.
Osaka disappointed with her efforts against Amanda Anisimova at Roland Garros
The former world no.1 also got talking about her performance against Anisimova and stated her disappointment over the same.
“In my head, I was going to do great here, and in Rome and Madrid, so I’m a bit disappointed.”
Osaka: "I'm leaning towards not playing based on the current situation. But that might change."

While Osaka didn’t do extremely well on her serve right from the start of the contest. It was Anisimova who entered the match as a favorite; owing to her recent victory against Naomi at the Australian Open.

Both the players didn’t play their best tennis. But Anisimova did well to hold on to her serve at crucial moments while the Japanese star faltered in doing so. Overall, Osaka made seven double-faults and this could be considered one of the prime reasons for her straight sets defeat to the American.

After this emphatic victory over Osaka, Anisimova will now meet Donna Vekic in the second-round at Roland Garros.
