Naomi Osaka on her new Nike apparel line
In a recent interview with POPSUGAR, the reigning Australian Open champion described the thought behind her new Nike wardrobe. Much like her comprehensive personality, it aims at mirroring ‘multi-talented, dynamic women everywhere.’
“I hope the collection reflects multi-talented, dynamic women everywhere,” Osaka said. “We can be both strong and feminine, both bold and playful — and I want everyone wearing it to feel that.”
Moreover, Osaka also opened up on her involvement with Nike for her on-court outfits. She explained that they first prioritize elevating every aspect of her game and then move on to the fashion part. “We have so much fun just playing with the style,” she continued. “What I am wearing plays a big role on how I feel when I step onto the court.”
For the 2021 Roland-Garros, Osaka will wear a black and gray NikeCourt Dress with mesh panels. Along with that, the Japanese star will sport the Air Zoom GP Turbo loaded with Swarovski crystals. You can find the exclusive pictures here.
Speaking on this subject, the senior designer Carly Ellis gave some fascinating insights. She said, “Naomi is one of the most multidimensional athletes of her generation. She’s incredibly dynamic, and her collection reflects this with just six pieces that can be layered and styled in over 30 looks. It’s as multifaceted as she is.”
The collection will be on sale from June 17; however, Osaka’s Roland-Garros outfit will be available from May 24 for Nike members and from May 31 for the rest of the world.
