Borrowing shirt. Wearing as dress”, wrote the American legend. Opelka and Venus’ friendship has grown this year as they were captured together on few occasions, including the premiere of King Richard, where fellow tennis player Frances Tiafoe was also invited.

Looking back at Opelka’s season, the American had a shaky start but found his way to the semis at the Madrid Masters. He unfortunately lost to Rafael Nadal in straight sets. Opelka defeated the likes of Aslan Karatsev and Lorenzo Mussetti to reach the final four.

Even his grass-court stint went well as he reached the finals in doubles at the Queen’s Club Championships, where he partnered with the Frenchman Pierre-Hughes Herbert.

But, the result Opelka might really cherish would be his runner-up title at the Canadian Open. The American defeated the likes of Stefanos Tsitsipas, Grigor Dimitrov, Roberto Bautista Agut, and others to reach the final where he was overpowered by Daniil Medvedev in straight sets.
