Blaming Menopause for Ending Their 18-Year Marriage, Chris Evert Was Asked to Pay a Mammoth Seven-Figure Sum to Ex-husband Andy Mill

American tennis legend Chris Evert has phenomenal records in tennis. However, the 67-year-old had an unstable personal life. Growing up, she had a strict father, and later, when she achieved success in her career, the former world number 1 found it hard to find love. The American married thrice and sadly, her marriages didn’t last. For now, she lives a single life and has three sons from her second husband, Andy Mill.

Back in 2006, when Evert divorced Mill, the tennis legend had to pay a big settlement amount to her ex-husband. Here’s what happened.

Evert’s $7 million divorce with Andy Mill

Chris Evert had the experience of divorce before she married Mill. Her first marriage with John Lloyd lasted eight years, and the couple broke up in 1987. She married Mill in 1988 and the couple had an 18-year-long marriage and three children. Notably, the tennis star had to pay a $7 million in settlement to Mill. After her separation, she fell in love with Australian golfer Greg Norman and married him.

Evert filed for divorce in November 2005, and the final judgment came in December 2006. As per the ruling, Evert had to pay $7 million in cash and securities. However, she had custody of the three sons the couple had from their marriage. Notably, the former world number 1 later blamed menopause for her divorce from Mill.

Later, Evert married Greg Norman in 2008. The couple didn’t get along and ended their marriage after only 15 months of marriage.

Chris Evert regretted her decision to part ways with Mill

Evert had a dramatic end to her relationship with Mill. Adding to the wounds, her marriage with Norman also ended pretty quickly. The former world number one had nothing but regret for making life difficult for herself. Back in 2011, when Evert lived with her three sons, she spoke about her regret after letting her marriage with Andy Mill slip away.

After the divorce, Andy Mill remarried, while Greg Norman also found love again. However, this time, Evert dedicated her life to raising her three sons and remained single.

Recently, when Evert was suffering from cancer, Mill was there to support her and stood by her side in all her chemo sessions until the former world number 1 recovered completely from the deadly disease.
