Black History Month has kicked off on a great note in the United States of America and it has also kicked off for Billie Jean King. The tennis legend is an advocate for Black people around the world along with being a women’s rights advocate. With the beginning of Black History Month, BJK has also started posting about several heroes who contributed to making equality happen for Black people.

Billie Jean King’s latest post touches hearts, emphasizing the achievement of Rosa Parks. Also known as the First Lady of Civil Rights, no one can forget her role in the Montgomery bus boycott. 110 years after her birth, America remembers her.

Rosa Parks is one of those heroes without whose remembrance and contribution Black History Month cannot be complete. “The Mother of the Freedom Movement”, who gave humanity great courage to fight against racism, was born on this day in 1913. Billie Jean King, another pioneer of equality although more focused towards gender, celebrates Parks’ pivotal achievements in her latest X post.

You must never be fearful about what you are doing when it is right.” In 1955, Rosa Parks, a Black seamstress, refused to give up her bus seat to a white man and was arrested. She was born on this day in 1913. #RosaParksDay #BlackHistoryMonth,” she writes.

One global icon celebrating another, King’s post brings forth the various societal issues that have persisted since the time Rosa Parks fought against, and then BJK stood up against, and many continue to resist today. As Black History Month kicks off and celebrates the lives of African Americans of the past and present, King is going full steam ahead with the celebrations.
