This year when advancements were done in tackling Covid, people became hopeful of their lives going back to being peaceful again. However, just within a few months, an additional threat knocked on our doors in the form of political tensions between Russia. Which thereafter took the shape of a full-fledged conflict between the two nations. And like every other sector, the world of tennis also wanted to help.

Several measures, such as banning Russian players and replacing Russian flags with white flags, were taken. How could tennis, a gentleman’s game, stand back? Therefore, the authorities came up with a fundraiser named tennis plays for peace.
How Far Has the Tennis-Based Relief Fund Come?
Tennis plays for peace are an outcome of collaboration among the major tennis organizations. It focuses on providing support to the humanitarian relief efforts for the Ukraine. Up till now, the initiative has raised a whopping total of 940,000 dollars. Therefore, to appreciate the efforts of every tennis entity and fan BJK Cup’s page shared a tweet.

Tennis plays for peace started raising funds on February 2022 and are aiming to reach a total of one million dollars by the end of this month.
Actions Entities Have Taken
Many players have addressed the matter. Players from both Russia, such as former World No.1 Daniil Medvedev and Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka, called for peace. Whereas Ukrainian players such as Alexandr Dolgopolov and Sergiy Stakhovsky joined armed forces to help Ukraine protect its freedom.

Amidst the conflict, the 20 times Grand Slam champion Roger Federer has made an offering of 500,000 dollars to support schoolchildren in Ukraine. Further current world no.1 Novak Djokovic promised financial and other sorts of help required by the former world no. 13 Sergiy Stakhovsky. In addition, the Tennis governing body made a 70o,000 dollars contribution to the Ukraine Crisis relief fund.
