Twitter, since Elon Musk’s takeover, has the netizens engaged now more than ever. Recently, Reddit co-founder and Serena Williams’  husband, Alexis Ohanian, shared his concern over the changing policies of the platform. He specifically talked about the $8 dollar blue tick verification fee that Twitter users can now avail.

The entrepreneur agreed to the citing of the case of a similar platform called Diggs, which went down due to such changes.

Serena Williams’ husband, Alexis Ohanian feels Twitter might go the Diggs way

The Reddit co-founder recently dwelled upon the $8 dollars for the blue tick announcement of Twitter’s CEO, Elon Musk. Ohanian feels that it would not be beneficial for the platform.

Additionally, he also feels that it can jeopardize the well-renowned platform and can lead to its downfall. A similar thing happened with Reddit’s predecessor Digg, which made similar changes and eventually saw its end, which came too soon.

He stated, “For years I dreaded they would launch their own version of “subdiggs” modeled after subreddits with mods, etc. only with better mod tools from day 1. Would’ve run over us, I think.”

The $8 dollar verification lets a user avail a verification tick on their profile for a month. So, one will have to pay a monthly fee of $8 dollars to get the verified tick.
