Before the US Open in 2009, Serena Williams cleared the air about a misconception about her father, Richard Williams. Moreover, she also talked about his business mastermind. “My dad is the nicest guy you’ll ever meet, and the easiest going. My dad really is a genius to get me and my sister in tennis. Not only that, but he negotiated Venus’s first contract, which was the biggest female contract ever signed,” Serena said.

“That was pure genius. He did my contract with Puma, and that was genius. My dad is a marketing mastermind,” she further said. 

Notably, Venus turned down a $3 million contract with Nike and signed a $12 million contract with Reebok in 1995. Venus’ younger sister, Serena Williams, also signed a contract with Puma early in her career. However, later she signed a record-breaking contract with Nike, which is still going on.

Last year, the movie, ‘King Richard’ received plenty of praise from critics and fans. Hollywood actor, Will Smith, portrayed Venus and Serena’s father, Richard Williams, in the movie. Smith’s outstanding performance touched the heart of many fans, as Venus and Serena also were in awe.
