Tunisian star, Ons Jabeur is a favorite among tennis fans. The 29-year-old is known for her wit and humor and often shares such moments on and off the court. Additionally, she is one of the top stars on the WTA Tour currently. Although she has failed to clear the final hurdles in Grand Slams three times now, the World Number 7 has given her all on the tennis court, much to the liking of the fans. Recently, one such moment went viral on social media to which her actress friend reacted with a wonderful message.

Jabeur is in China where she is participating in the WTA 250 Ningbo Open. The top seed is into the final with a hard-fought win over Nadia Podoroska of Argentina. Here’s what happened during that match that caught her friend’s attention.

During her semifinal encounter against Podoroska, Jabeur was involved in a lengthy rally in the opening set. Her opponent made her cover ground from one side of the court to the other, but the Tunisian star was strong in defense. During the rally, Jabeur made a short return that led to the two players approaching the net. Subsequently, they exchanged blows and Podoroska’s return also went on to hit the net cord, causing some difficulty to Jabeur.

However, the latter had every answer to the question asked, showing top-notch defensive skills. Eventually, Jabeur won the point by hitting a forehand winner past her opponent. The video of the rally was shared by WTA’s official Instagram handle and it went viral on social media quickly. It also captured the attention of her actress friend, Amira Chebli. She reposted the video as a story on her official Instagram handle, saying, “My friend is better than yours,” and tagging Jabeur.

Along with her performances, Jabeur is also making the headlines for her off-court activities. Before the start of the Ningbo Open, she inspired her fellow players to don the traditional look.

Jabeur kickstarts Ningbo Open in style

Before the start of play at the WTA 250 tournament in China, the tournament organizers hosted a dinner party for the players. During the event, Jabeur chose a traditional look by donning Hanfu clothing. Subsequently, she also inspired other players like Sorana Cirstea to wear that traditional look. The latter even referred to Jabeur as “the minister of happiness.” Their pictures went viral on social media and became a talking point in the tennis world as they looked adorable in that look.

Meanwhile, Jabeur will look to win her first title since April as she faces Diana Shnaider in the summit clash. The Tunisian star will be the favorite going into that match as she aims to finish the 2023 season on a high.
