With a stellar display of her prowess, the currently ranked world No. 2 player recently outclassed Madison Keys, in the quarter-final round of the British Slam. In doing so, the Belarusian tennis star has become the second female player in the Open Era to have won her first 6 Grand Slam quarter-finals.
Prior to this, only the Hall of Famer, Chris Evert was there in the elite category as she went 48-0 in her first 48 quarter-finals in the major tournaments. This unique feat in the women’s circuit was recently brought to light by a journalist on Twitter.
He stated, “I doubt we will find a stat as “violent” as this one: Sabalenka is the second female player to win her first six quarter-final matches in Grand Slam tournaments in the Open Era. Chris Evert, the only one before this week, went 48-0 in her first 48 Grand Slam quarter-finals.”
