Coco Gauff can do hardly any wrong at the moment. Last year, she clinched victory at the US Open, her maiden Grand Slam victory. Since then, she has gone on to become one of the biggest names in American sports currently. Gauff is just 20 and has achieved success at a very young age. Not just on the court but also off the court. Recently, the American sensation also boasted her unique March Madness achievement.

The NCAA Basketball tournament concluded last week with UConn and South Carolina coming out on top in the men’s and women’s divisions, respectively. Their victory also resulted in Gauff’s win, but how?

Coco Gauff made on-spot predictions about March Madness

Minutes ago, Gauff took to her official Twitter handle to boast her March Madness record. The reigning US Open champion had correctly predicted the winners to be UConn and South Carolina in the men’s and women’s divisions, respectively. Expressing happiness over this, Gauff tweeted, “both my march madness picks won.”

It is interesting to note that Gauff had predicted against Iowa, the team of Caitlin Clark. She was a star player of the tournament and also had won plaudits from Coco Gauff and Ben Shelton. However, Clark suffered heartbreak in the summit clash and couldn’t clear the final hurdle as her team lost 87-75 against South Carolina.

Gauff is an ardent follower of basketball and is often spotted attending various matches. Moreover, she could also have been a basketball player had she not given up on the sport to become a professional tennis player. Thus, with her close connection to basketball, Gauff follows athletes like Clark closely and was among the first ones to congratulate her on achieving a historic feat.
