As the player is proudly representing Ukraine despite the intensity of things, she disclosed that her grandmother’s house was hit by a rocket just moments before she took to the court in Brisbane.

Yastremska expressed the huge weight of emotions that she carried along while playing her match. She mentioned, “It was hard to play. To talk about what’s going on in Ukraine, a couple of seconds aren’t enough.” Despite the adverse situation, the 23-year-old went on to keep moving ahead and secure a victory in her first-round match at the Australian Open.

Proud of the warriors.” Urging support for her country by adding, “we need to remember & give as much support as possible to Ukraine,” the young sensation presented a spirit that is hard to possess.

This wasn’t the first time that Dayana Yastremska introduced the tennis world to the situation in her country. Back in 2023, the tennis star slammed the Russian WTA stars for their misconduct against the Ukrainians. The 23-year-old, emphasizing the need to be unbiased because of what’s happening on the outside, voiced her concern.

“It’s not the first time Ukrainian players showed WTA, what is happening. We have repeatedly reported similar behavior of players from Russia on social media. We suggested penalties for them, but nothing changes,” she mentioned. As the tennis star moves ahead to the upcoming round of the prestigious event, her form despite the depressing effect of the complications, is appreciable.
