Chris Evert was shining in the spotlight as she was awarded a special honor at the Tennis Hall of Fame. The event celebrated Evert’s remarkable contributions to tennis, with Billie Jean King’s heartfelt endorsement of it. On social media, King fervently celebrated Evert’s accomplishment, giving the ceremony that took place during the Infosys Hall of Fame Open even more significance.

The International Tennis Hall of Fame (ITHF) has announced that the Canfield House facility, which houses TeamFAME, will, henceforth, be called the Chris Evert Learning Center. The renaming was celebrated on the court in front of ITHF leaders, Hall of Famers, and TeamFAME students during the Infosys Hall of Fame Open. Notable backers Michael Hurley from the Manitou Fund and Nora McNeely Hurley were also in attendance.

Celebrating this amazing news, Billie Jean King wrote on X, “The @TennisHalloFame has dedicated a building on its grounds to the inimitable @ChrissieEvert for her contributions to grassroots youth tennis and education initiatives.” Following that, she talked about the center, while sharing a post from the International Tennis Hall of Fame, in the same context.

Along with that, she added, “Congratulations to our friend on this well-deserved honor.” Tennis superstars Martina Navratilova, Kim Clijsters, Stan Smith, Tracy Austin, Rosie Casals, and Rick Draney shared the spotlight with Chris Evert and the Newport leadership during the Infosys Hall of Fame Open quarterfinal matches.

Subsequently, the CEO of the International Tennis Hall of Fame Dan Faber praised Chris Evert as a classic Hall of Famer at the event, highlighting her significant influence on the court and her admirable dedication to giving back to the sport. He stated that Evert “embodies all that it means to be a Hall of Famer, both in her impact on the court and her track record of giving back to the sport of tennis.” The 18-time Grand Slam champion also came forward and shared her thoughts.
