The sports apparel brand, Nike, has made a huge effort to empower women through its investments and partnerships. The world-renowned company recently announced that it has spent almost $1 billion on women-empowering initiatives. Nike has been a longstanding supporter of women’s sports and has partnered with some of the most influential female athletes in the world. The likes of Serena Williams, Megan Rapinoe, Li Na, and others have used their platforms to raise awareness about the importance of gender equality in sports.

The female superstars have inspired companies like Nike to make a difference. Through its partnerships and investments, Nike has helped to drive positive change in the lives of girls who have dreams of achieving big in the realm of sports.

Serena Williams, arguably the greatest player in the Open Era, is a vocal advocate for gender equality and racial justice. She has been an ambassador for Nike for over a decade. Her partnership with the company has been instrumental in promoting gender diversity and inclusion in sports. Nike’s support for Serena Williams goes beyond just producing products inspired by her. The company has stood by Williams throughout her career, even during some of her most challenging moments.

Nike has supported more than 375,000 girls in accessing play and sport through diverse programs. The sports company has provided resources to more than 17,000 coaches to create more inclusive experiences for kids. Nike’s recent campaign has a major focus on women, and girls, and its Black Community Commitment (BCC), totaled $149 million in the last fiscal year. Nike is using its global brand power to make a difference in the lives of women around the world.

 

In its latest Instagram post, Nike shared,  “..in the last two fiscal years we’ve brought our commitment to life through a $777 million cumulative spend on diverse suppliers, including numerous women-led businesses.”

Nike further added, ” In total, we invested $149 million..- which represents 2.24 percent of our prior year’s pre-tax income – in communities around the world, with a focus on women, girls, and our Black Community Commitment (BCC).

Nike has also been a leader in promoting pay equity and diversity within its organization. The company has maintained 1:1 pay equity for its female employees globally. Nike has also worked to diversify its leadership across the company, including at the executive level.
