American tennis greats Martina Navratilova and Chris Evert have been close friends over the years. Back in the 70s and 80s, the two started off as rivals. Back in 2020, Chris Evert’s mother Colette Evert passed away. Chris Evert took to her Twitter account to give the information. “Last Thursday, my mom, Colette, passed away. My heart is broken as she was the sweetest and kindest mom and person ever…At 92, it was her time, and she went peacefully and gracefully… RIP mom,” Evert wrote.

Martina Navratilova was quick to post her heartfelt condolence to the departed soul. “Colette was as good a person as one could ever meet- and a role model for all tennis parents… RIP Colette Evert…” Navratilova wrote.
Evert and Navratilova played each other a record eighty times. Out of this, Navratilova won 43 while Evert won 37 matches. The intensity of rivalry is still unmatchable. Even after sharing such an intense rivalry, their friendship is truly remarkable.

Martina Navratilova defends Evert on her recent comments on Djokovic
In a recent interview, Novak Djokovic answered a question regarding his toughest rival. Answering it, Djokovic named Rafael Nadal as his toughest rival. Adding to that, he also said that they have played more matches against each other than anyone else in the history of the sport. Reacting to his comments, Evert tweeted, “Oops”.
However, Djokovic’s fans were not happy with Evert’s reaction and started trolling her online. Navratilova came to Evert’s rescue and defended her friend. The 65-year-old said that there was nothing wrong with what Evert said.
