Aryna Sabalenka left no stone unturned to make 2024 a season to remember for her. She ended the season as the World Number 1 in the WTA rankings chart. Additionally, she also won the Australian Open and the US Open titles this season. An important element in her rise was the constant support of her boyfriend, Georgios Frangulis, who was often seen cheering for Sabalenka from the stands. However, on one of the rare occasions recently, her boyfriend went missing as Sabalenka shared glimpses of her dinner date on social media.
After working hard during the entire 2024 season, Sabalenka is enjoying a much-needed break away from the sport. The World Number 1 is in the United Arab Emirates where she enjoyed her time off during a dinner date with her friend. The Belarusian star looked glamorous in a brown-colored one-piece dress. However, her boyfriend was nowhere to be seen in the pictures shared by Sabalenka.
She took to her official Instagram handle and shared a series of pictures of her dinner date, while writing, “Swipe to see my dinner dates.” Posing with her friend in one of the pictures, Sabalenka also clicked some selfies as she missed Frangulis’s company. Sabalenka’s boyfriend is an entrepreneur and he might have been busy with his work commitments.

However, Sabalenka has not often had to enjoy her time off from the court alone. Last week, she had the company of her boyfriend at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix and enjoyed the race day date with him. Additionally, a few weeks back, Frangulis and Sabalenka also enjoyed a Miami Heat game together. Sabalenka has time and again expressed how her boyfriend supported her during tough times. He was constantly by her side and motivated her to emerge stronger.
Aryna Sabalenka calls her boyfriend her ‘biggest support’
After winning the Australian Open this year, things didn’t go exactly according to Sabalenka’s plans. Her form went downhill and she was also affected by the shocking death of her ex-boyfriend, Konstantin Koltsov. The latter committed suicide back in March this year and Sabalenka was shocked after coming to know about this.

However, with Frangulis by her side, she overcame the tough times and emerged stronger. Crediting her boyfriend for this, she said, “There was a really tough period where I was really happy to have him by my side, always cheering me up, always making sure that we are doing some fun stuff. But I make sure I kind of forget about tennis and focus on the good things and enjoy my life. Even when things are going wrong in my career. So yeah, he was my biggest support and yeah, really happy to have him by my side.”
The Belarusian star would look to maintain her form when she steps onto the court next season. Sabalenka will play at the Brisbane International to start her preparations for the Australian Open title defense. It’ll be interesting to see if Sabalenka can retain her major title Down Under.
