Aryna Sabalenka is just two steps away from lifting a third successive Australian Open trophy down under. On Tuesday, the World No.1 beat Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in a challenging QF battle at the Rod Laver Arena. After she won the first set, the three-time Major winner had to put extra effort into making a return in the decider. Eventually, she reigned supreme over her opponent with a score of line of 6-2, 2-6, 6-3. This victory has sent her into a third straight semifinal of the Melbourne Major. Following the big win, her boyfriend couldn’t resist his emotions and shared a special message on social media.
After her emphatic win in the QF round, Sabalenka dropped a post on her Instagram, on Tuesday, with several pictures, showing her winning emotions from the match. Along with them, she gave the caption: “Step by step 💪🏼 @australianopen” Clearly, she implied how she’s focused on putting a hundred percent effort into every match without thinking too much about the result. Now, she’s close to the crown and she knows it!
It didn’t take long for her boyfriend Georgios Frangulis to express his loving gesture to celebrate her win. In the comments, he simply put a purple heart emoji with a little dinosaur emoji “💜🦖”, showing support to her girlfriend in her remaining singles campaign down under.

But this isn’t the first time Frangulis has expressed his unending support to Sabalenka. He’s played a crucial role in her life ever since the two met and started dating last year. On a previous occasion, she even called him her “biggest support”.

When Aryna Sabalenka found her pillar of strength in Georgios Frangulis
Back in September, the World No.1 came forward to discuss her personal life. Interacting with People magazine, she talked about Georgios Frangulis and how his presence had worked wonders for her – not just personally but professionally too. Commenting on the Oakberry CEO’s essence in her life, the Belarusian said that she “was really happy to have him by” her side. Then the Tiger recounted a tough phase in her life when he stood by her side.
Last season, in July, a shoulder injury had forced her to withdraw from the Wimbledon Championships. And this issue occurred just weeks after an illness resulted in her loss in the QF round of the French Open in June. “But I make sure I kind of forget about tennis and focus on the good things and enjoy my life. Even when things are going wrong in my career. So yeah, he was my biggest support and yeah, really happy to have him by my side.”

Similar to what Frangulis does, she also keeps expressing her love for him. Remember Aryna Sabalenka‘s admiration for Frangulis when she won the Cincinnati Open last season? After clinching the victory against America’s Jessica Pegula, she thanked him with an adorable statement. “Thank you to my boyfriend for keeping me happy every day,” she said.
Hopefully, another such moment will arrive soon this week. After securing her place in the SF round of the Australian Open, Sabalenka would like to end her campaign on a winning note. She will now face Spain’s Paula Badosa on Thursday and will look to enter a third successive AO final. Do you think the World No.1 will eventually lift the trophy down under this time as well?
