Is Georgios Frangulis' multi-million dollar project for Sabalenka the most romantic gesture in sports history?

Aryna Sabalenka has found a partner who is head over heels for her. Like her performance on hard courts, this Belarusian WTA star excelled in her love life with Georgios Frangulis. The two began dating not long ago, but it seems that they have found great comfort with each other. Including a professional angle to their relationship, this Brazilian businessman appointed his girlfriend in a crucial role for his brand.

The Acai brand acquired funding of a staggering $67 million in late 2023. Ready to move ahead with their expansion, they decided to bring Sabalenka on board. The official Instagram page of Oakberry USA recently introduced Sabalenka as their brand ambassador. Sharing the Belarusian tennis star’s photo, they wrote,Introducing our powerhouse partner, Grand Slam champion @arynasabalenka! 🌟 Aryna’s journey to the top is built on discipline, strength, and the right fuel. Get ready to power up! 08.20 🎾🗽”

Sabalenka partnered with the quick-service superfood brand on the 11th of January and released a signature acai bowl inspired by her go-to” order. A good diet is important for athletes on and off the court. Hence, Sabalenka has made Oakberry a staple in my routine as I prepare for a match.”

Oakberry ‘s CEO, Georgois Frangulis, was delighted to have Sabalenka on board. He said, Aryna Sabalenka is a great example of the future of tennis and we are working closely with her to create some really exciting things over the years,” he said, also citing his excitement for fans to get on board. The brand’s Global Head of Marketing, Bruno Cardinali, was also very hopeful about Sabalenka helping them to create real connections with their customers.

Established in 2016 by Frangulis and Renato Haidar, Oakberry has made a promising name in the market as a brand that provides organic acai products. Before their venture in the US, Oakberry grew over 300 locations in Brazil and became a household name in Portugal, Spain, and UAE. In late 2023, this company raised $67 million in capital overseen by BTG Pactual, Latin America’s biggest investment bank. In 2021, the brand raised $17.3 million with a green Agribusiness Receivables Certificate worth $10.3 million in 2022.

They recently welcomed funding from other athletes, such as Olympic volleyball player Kawika Shoji. Along with him, Chef Jason Peel and entrepreneurs Malia Kaaihue, Adam Wong, and Ryan Chun are a part of the investor group as well.

After Sabalenka’s intense romance with Frangulis, it was confirmed that she would take more active roles in her boyfriend’s superfood brand, Oakberry. Now, with Sabalenka being the brand’s face, more people will be interested in trying out the brand’s acai bowls.
