Can Aryna Sabalenka truly dominate the tour like Serena Williams, or is it just wishful thinking?

Could anything top the 2024 season for Aryna Sabalenka? As of today, maybe this is the best season Sabalenka is having. She has claimed 2 Grand Slams this season, in addition to Wuhan Open and Cincinnati Open. Moreover, the Belarusian stands at the top of the WTA circuit and is in a favorable position to claim the year-end, WTA Finals. And to make this merrier, she is about to pocket whopping prize money from just 3 round-robin wins!

While these wins are the jewels of the 2024 season for Sabalenka, one cannot forget the adversities she went through over the years, particularly during the Grass swing. The World No.1 suffered a shoulder injury and had to withdraw from the Wimbledon Championships. However, the gritty Belarusian star made a terrific comeback at the Cincinnati Open and went on to win the US Open. And now at Riyadh, after her dominating wins at the WTA Finals round-robin stage, Sabalenka has already claimed a massive $5.155 Mn of the staggering $15 Mn prize pool.

During an interview with the Arab News on November 2nd, 2024 (updated on November 5th), Sabalenka opened up about fighting for such big prize money. She said, “That’s crazy, that’s actually crazy. But I think we all deserve that.” Rightly so, the players undergo intense training, and schedules to reach the top spot.

She further added, “We are working as hard as the men do. We are making a lot of sacrifices, maybe even more than the men do, and I think we deserve it.” Recently, one of the exhibition tournaments that caught everyone’s attention was the Six Kings Slam where the winner, Jannik Sinner made $6 Mn. Meanwhile, Daniil Medvedev claimed $1.5Mn for just 45 minutes on the court. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has somewhere leveled the prize money to an extent, as the WTA players are also all set to earn a fortune.

However, this is not the end. If Sabalenka continues her winning spree, she could extend this prize check by a massive amount. More is to come for the Belarusian star! Sabalenka, however, is not just focusing on a big purse and a few wins. She has something more in mind for the years to come.
