In the world of tennis, Aryna Sabalenka has always stood as a symbol of strength and resilience. However, behind the powerful serves and determination on the tennis court lies a deeply personal journey which was marked by a loss. Just as she was about to hit the ground up and running, she dealt with a massive blow as she lost her father which left a huge mark on her. Despite the loss, she could not talk to her mother about this.

In a recent Netflix docuseries Break Point, the former number 1 player comes ahead and gives her honest opinion on why she could not talk about her father’s demise to her mother. She also revealed her a final tribute that she wanted to give her father.

After losing her father, Aryna Sabalenka found herself unable to discuss him with her mother. The reason was simple, every conversation led to tears. The pain was too fresh, too raw. In those moments, Sabalenka yearned to share her grief but couldn’t bear seeing her mother suffer.

Eventually, the breakthrough came when Sabalenka expressed her desire to win a Grand Slam in her father’s memory. She hoped to put the family name in history, creating a lasting tribute. Surprisingly, her mother was shocked by Sabalenka’s dreams. Instead, she reminded Sabalenka that her father took pride in every match she won. It wasn’t about the method or the trophies, it was the joy and pride he felt with each victory.

“First time after I lost my dad, I couldn’t talk to mom about him. Because every time we spoke, she would cry. But when I told her I want to win a slam for him, for his memory. I wanted to put our family name in the history, you know she said,”What are you talking about? He was proud of you after each match you win every match for him method and titles wasn’t the big deal for him.”” said Sabalenka in the interview.

In these simple, Sabalenka found peace. It wasn’t about grand accomplishments but the shared love for the game and the support her father had always given.

Also, in the series, she sheds light on how, just hours before the final she was feeling and how the simplest advice from her boyfriend helped her lay her hands on the title and fulfil her dream of winning the slam for her father.

Sabalenka’s boyfriend’s simple message that paved the way for her maiden grand slam win

Aryna Sabalenka’s boyfriend, Konstantin Koltsov came ahead and cheered his partner with a simple yet profound message. Saba, who was about to play her maiden slam final had doubts going in as she remembered her last year’s performance. However, he stood right by her side and suggested Sabaelnka just enjoy tennis and bring her bet to the tennis court. “You go again. Just relax and enjoy the tennis that’s it,” said Koltsov in the interview.

It not only helped Sabalenka get some much-needed confidence but also allowed her to lay her hands on her first-ever grand slam title. Thus, Sabalenka, who was in doubt before going into the final got reassurance from her boyfriend and she eventually laid her hands on her first-ever grand slam title and fulfilled her wish.
