Can Aryna Sabalenka match Serena Williams' legacy both on the court and in the luxury brand world?

Aryna Sabalenka is on cloud 9 at the moment, isn’t she? Sabalenka has dominated her opponents on the court and it just seems she can’t stop winning titles. With four titles already in the kitty this year, Sabalenka is nearing the top spot in the WTA rankings, currently held by Iga Swiatek. Further, she also tasted success at the Wuhan Open last week, defeating Qinwen Zheng in the summit clash. As if her success on the court wasn’t enough, Sabalenka is also taking big strides off the court and recently joined the league of Serena Williams.

Hours ago, the Belarusian beauty took to her official Instagram handle and revealed that she has joined Audemars Piguet as an ambassador, similar to Serena Williams’ role. Sharing glimpses of some timeless vintage watches in the reel which she posted on Instagram, Sabalenka wrote, “So excited and honored to join the @audemarspiguet family. Thank you for showing me around your beautiful grounds in Switzerland.”

Interestingly, Serena Williams has been associated with this iconic brand since 2014. She was often spotted wearing a watch of Audemars Piguet during her matches. Using the influence of Williams, the brand launched several different pieces, something which the brand aims to do with Sabalenka as well during her role as an ambassador.

However, Sabalenka hasn’t been alien to the brand. She has often been spotted wearing timeless pieces of this iconic brand, which is worth almost $1.65 Billion. During her US Open victory earlier this year, she was spotted wearing rainbow-colored Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Chronograph.

Serena Williams, meanwhile, is a huge fan of the luxury brand, apart from being its ambassador as well. She once revealed the one thing which she liked about Audemars Piguet the most.

Can Aryna Sabalenka match Serena Williams' legacy both on the court and in the luxury brand world?

Have an interesting take?

While the 23-time Grand Slam champion was a force to reckon with on the court, she was also one of the best-dressed players in the WTA circuit, and often made strong fashion statements. One of the iconic elements of her fashion was her watch collection from Audemars Piguet, whom she joined as an ambassador 11 years back. During an interview once, the younger Williams sister couldn’t stop singing praise of the iconic luxury brand.

She said, “What I like about [Audemars Piguet watches] most is they’re a classic, but they are also strong. They’re [mindful of] trends, but they’re always on point, always timeless. I love how they stand for more than just a watch. It is really, for me, an honor to be with Audemars Piguet.”

Like Serena’s iconic career, Sabalenka is also keen to follow in the footsteps of the American legend. Joining the Audemars Piguet family as an ambassador is a step in the right direction for Sabalenka, who will be motivated by Williams’ greatness as she aims to become the best in the world currently.

After the Wuhan Open triumph, Sabalenka will next be seen in action at the WTA Finals in Riyadh. A good performance there will catapult her to the top spot in the WTA rankings chart.
