The first quarter of the 2021 WTA season has been crammed with many up and down performances. In this matter, an embarrassing stat starring Aryna Sabalenka, Belinda Bencic, and Coco Gauff has come to the surface.
Inarguably, the three of them have delivered some of the most striking games of the season so far. However, they have also found it hard to stay consistent with their service game.
As a result, they are placed at the top in Most Double Faults in the season list.

Belarusian World No. 7 Aryna Sabalenka got the perfect start to her 2021 season, winning the season-opener Abu Dhabi Open. Following that, she walked to and fro from her peak form. While she also grabbed the Australian Open doubles title with Elise Mertens, her singles performance took a concerning hit.
As of now, the 22-year-old has made 96 double faults in the 19 matches she has played. This high number also makes her the leading player in most double faults in 2021 currently.
The following two spots in this statistics belong to Russian Ekaterina Alexandrova (93-16) and Swiss’ Belinda Bencic (92-13). Obviously, they would look for ways to get out of this list very soon.
Another big name on the list is 17-year-old American rising star Coco Gauff. Although she has played some exceptional tennis this year, she has had her big weapon all over the court.
To enumerate, she has 87 double faults to her name in the 15 matches she has played so far.

Comparatively, Australian World No. 1 Ashleigh Barty has made 42 double faults in 16 matches, whereas No. 2 Naomi Osaka has made 38 in 13 bouts. The exiguous faults do help them dominate over their opponents and win big titles eventually.

Barty, Bencic, and Gauff are presently competing for the Charleston Volvo Open title. Moreover, the Australian and top seed is looking to book her second back-to-back title. Recently, she defended her Miami Open title against Canadian Bianca Andreescu, who retired from a set and 4-0 loss.
Further ahead, the players would love to grab on a rhythm they can stretch through the year. And when it comes to double faults, they would want to be far away from the list.
