The American tennis star, Venus Williams, embarked on her illustrious tennis age at a very young age after not pulling out from various junior tournaments. Since then, the 42-year-old has played in a plethora of tournaments during her almost three-decade-long career. Speaking of tournaments, the 7-time singles Grand Slam champion has recently opened up about her “great memories” from the ASB Classic in Auckland. However, there was also an upsetting incident that happened during her visit to Auckland.

Williams recently revealed how she was surprised upon reaching New Zealand, as she had to even call the airlines. Here’s what Venus said about her “upsetting” episode.

The former world no.1 recently uploaded a video on her official YouTube channel. In that video, Venus Williams opened up about her great memories and experiences of winning the ASB Classic. However, the American tennis icon also recalled a distressing incident that she had experienced back in 2015.

Venus revealed that she realized that she had no bags upon reaching the airport in New Zealand. Not just bags, but the American tennis legend missed out on much more important things, her rackets. She stated, “I have no bags and most of all I had no racket so that part was really upsetting because when I got there with no racket.

“I’m like I’ve worked four months and I have no racket and I’m gonna get to New Zealand and I can’t practice. Are you kidding me,” Venus added. She further said that they tried calling the airline at the airport. However, there was literally no service there, and she had to fill a piece of document paper.

Williams also gave details on her injury

The American tennis legend previously announced the devastating injury update before the start of the Australian Open. Consequently, the tennis community was heartbroken as they didn’t get to see Venus adorning the tennis courts of Melbourne Park. Thus, fans were curious to know what forced the tennis ace to pull out of the tournament.

Venus has now disclosed details of the injury that she picked up during her participation in the ASB Classic. After switching courts in Auckland, she revealed that she heard a pop sound on her hamstring area. Later, the scans also revealed that Venus had tears on her hamstring due to which she couldn’t play in the Australian Open.
