Coco Gauff is undoubtedly rising in the world of tennis. Outside the realm of tennis, she has made sure to keep her values and beliefs intact. For that, she has ignored people’s comments and has taken a front seat in making sure that her voice is loud and clear; from sensitive issues like racism to the right to vote. In a similar step, Coco Gauff became part of the trending All American: Homecoming, a TV series revolving around a women’s tennis team that got racially profiled.
What seemed like a distant dream for the showrunner Nkechi Okoro Carroll turned out to be a special moment when Gauff decided to be a part of the show. The American tennis star featured in one episode of the series and this has left a huge statement on the targeted issue.

The American teenage sensation has always acted more mature than her age. This has led her to be vocal about things she believes in. Staying true to that part of her life, she has stepped into the world of entertainment too.
The series revolves around the women’s tennis team, which loses out the opportunity to compete because of racial profiling by the police. The real-life incident faced by the women’s lacrosse team of Delaware State University inspires the story.
Showrunner Nkechi Okoro Carroll, in a recent interview with the Deadline, talked about the imperative role Gauff played in the sow. She stated, “Honestly, it was a dream come true. We’re such big Coco fans here. We were thinking, ‘Who are our tennis players that we have out there right now who would stand up and fight?”
Obviously, having someone like Coco Gauff on the show was a remarkable way to highlight the issue. Thinking along the same lines, they wondered, “Oh, it would be so great if someone like Coco, who is their age, who is out there killing it in the game right now, who understands the sacrifice.”
Gauff has tasted both the positive and negative sides of her rise in the tennis realm. Ignoring the noise, she has focused on making the best of her influence in raising important matters.

What was Gauff’s reaction?
They did not know how it was going to turn out, but they took their chance. And, that turned out to be the best decision for the show because, according to Carroll, “Coco was like, ‘Are you kidding me?’ It was like the fastest yes, and God bless her because she had a tournament and was figuring it out in between.” Defining it as a “miracle,” Carroll stated, “It was such a wonderful experience, and they loved the voice we were giving to Black female tennis players.”
