It’s has been exactly a week when a winning couple just doubled down on their success. Katie Boulter and Alex de Minaur, a formidable force both on and off the court, achieved a remarkable feat this past Sunday. “How did that happen again … You are a joke!” de Minaur marked the occasion on X! And Jannik Sinner girlfriend, Anna Kalinskaya, is eager to replicate this title limelight! Can another power couple do the double? Genie Bouchard is in full support.
Just a week ago, power couple Katie Boulter and Alex de Minaur didn’t just win titles in the same week – they both triumphed on the very same day, separated by just a few hours! Boulter reigned supreme on the familiar grass courts of Nottingham, defending her title on home soil in Great Britain. Meanwhile, de Minaur secured his victory across the English Channel in ‘s-Hertogenbosch, Netherlands. This remarkable double win marks the second time this season the couple has lifted tour-level trophies within the same week. Back in March, de Minaur successfully defended his Acapulco crown before jetting across the globe to cheer Boulter on as she captured the biggest title of her career in San Diego.
Host Steve Weissman in his Tennis Channel Live Podcast recently discussed the power couple with Genie Bouchard. Steve asked Bouchard for her take on Anna’s aspirated to replicate the feat. To which Genie gave her full support saying if that were to happen it would be amazing. “Yeah Kalinskaya had talked about at the beginning of the week. She said she hoped she and Sinner could do what Katie and Alex De Minaur did last week and they are both in the finals. If this happens, that will be amazing.”
Bouchard later detailed her performance in the latest match against Victoria Azrenka saying, “ The first set was an absolute steamroll by Kalinskaya. She has that quick flat game that powers through the grass…” Despite facing a strong opponent Victoria Azarenka, Kalinskaya showed remarkable resilience and skill. Azarenka was able to make her way back into the game and impose her game over Kalinskaya. Bouchard explained how Anna tackled her- “…But as the rank of the competitor that we all know that she is clawed her way back, was able to impose her game and move forward through the balls. We see her finishing some points here at the net, con sky showing some variety as well on top of those things.”
In the post match interview, Anna Kalinskaya was informed that Sinner has secured a spot in the Terra Wortmann Open final, also a first for him on grass. “I’m just trying to be a little bit as good as him,” a giggling world No. 24 said. “Let’s see if we can watch each other tomorrow. Congratulations to him, I’m gonna text him now. I’m so happy.” Interestingly, both are not only heating up the rankings but also turning heads with their unwavering support for each other.
