Russian tennis teenager Mirra Andreeva has to do a ‘lot of school’

Back in 2023, the 16-year-old player made headlines for outshining some of the top seeds, Barbora Krejčíková and Anastasia Potapova, as she reached the round of 16 of the Wimbledon Championships. Notably, after winning her second-round match at the Australian Open, the Russian tennis prodigy was once again asked about her ‘schoolwork’ and the ‘subjects’ that have often troubled her. Andreeva answered, “I’m super happy with the level that I showed today on the court. About school, I still don’t like chemistry. I still have to do a lot of school. It actually started two days ago, so I have to do it, so yeah.”

At the mere age of 16, the WTA player is doing exceptionally well in balancing the roles of a student and an athlete. And even though she is a teenager, Andreeva is feeling like she’s a ‘bit more mature.’
