Coco Gauff has created history at the US Open! She walked into Serena Williams‘ footsteps and clinched the US Open title at just 19 years of age. It was nothing short of a fairytale run and the entire New York crowd backed the teenager from the very beginning. However, it is also important to focus on Gauff’s form prior to the hard court swing.
The prodigy was struggling to deliver consistent results and, following a round one exit at Wimbledon; she made big changes to her team. Her results skyrocketed instantly as she won three of the four titles in the hard court swing. After adding the coveted US Open title to her cabinet, Gauff dropped a message for her naysayers.

Gauff entered the final as an underdog as she locked horns with Aryna Sabalenka; the World No. 1, come Monday. After losing the first set, her chances were negligible, but she bounced back and turned it around with a three-set win. She broke down right after converting the match point and celebrated with her family.
However, when it was time for the on-court interview, she took it as an opportunity to slam her haters with a sassy remark in front of a packed Arthur Ashe Stadium.
The 19-year-old said, “Thank you to the people who didn’t believe in me. A month ago I won a 500 title & people said I’d stop at that. 2 weeks ago I won a 1000 title & people said that was as big as it’d get. 3 weeks later, I’m here.” She kept proving her haters wrong with a title every fortnight, each one coming at a bigger level. Gauff took their word as a driving force to deliver results on the big stage.
