In the tennis world, where everyone is usually very serious and focused, a hilarious story unfolded recently. Picture a 62-year-old coach and a 19-year-old tennis sensation joining forces. It is none other than the American sensation Coco Gauff and Andre Agassi’s former coach, Brad Gilbert. Their age gap is big, but what’s truly fascinating is the close friendship they’ve developed, full of youthful spirit and some amusing quirks.

This partnership has not only helped Gauff win titles like the Citi Open and the Cincinnati Masters, it has also brought out the playful side of Brad Gilbert, making him feel young at heart once again.

Brad Gilbert joined the coaching team of Gauff in Washington, D.C., working as a consultant with Pere Riba. In a recent interview during the US Open, Gilbert spoke highly of the team’s spirit. But what really caught everyone’s attention was the fun and friendly bond he shares with Coco Gauff.

During a press conference, Gauff couldn’t help but chuckle as she said, highlighting Gilbert’s charming quirks, “I was worried about being with an older person, to be honest, before I met Brad. He’s older, but he still has the mind of, like, a 20-year-old, maybe even younger, a 10-year-old kid sometimes. He played every match with a jolly rancher in his mouth. He’s been giving me jolly ranchers all the time. I take them but I don’t eat them,”.

This claim brought in reactions from outside the tennis community, adding the giggles in an already funny situation.

Banter in the tennis world going from viral moments to genuine friendship

ESPN analyst Darren Cahill joined in the fun by retweeting the video, joking, “she’s a fast learner, BG! 😂 A little Tom Petty is good for the soul no matter how old you are. See you at the morning meeting at 9.29 😜.”
