The 19-year-old’s confidence has peaked since her accomplishments at the US Open.

Gauff defeated Maria Sakkari in the quarter-finals by 6-2 and 6-4. Her performance against the insanely aggressive Sakkari was beyond excellent. Maria is the one in control in most of her matches. Yet, Gauff had other plans for this round.

Gauff made an impact in a series of matches since Wimbledon this year. The whole world praised Gauff for her dominance in the US Open finals. Gauff had the current World’s No.1, Aryna Sabalenka, cornered and defeated. Her matches in Beijing are going equally well. She is bound to have faith in herself after her phenomenal streak of wins.?

According to puntodebreak.com, she said, ?When you arrive with a little less expectations – and I had no expectations in terms of results either – you do better than you expected. Wasn’t sure what my mindset was going to be after the US Open. I knew I’d be motivated, but I hoped I wouldn’t try to watch the WTA Finals instead.”

“I feel like I’ve done a good job playing every game no matter what and without throwing in the towel, that’s why I’m proud. Although I achieved my goal for this season, I feel like I might have lost some motivation. When you achieve your goals, you simply set new ones. ?I think that’s what I did right, setting new goals and finding something else to motivate me to achieve them.”

Gauff explained that she wasn’t holding herself to any bars. She wasn’t expecting any results, leading to this exceptional gameplay. She clarified she didn’t even know what kind of mindset she’d have while pursuing the matches. Gauff finally takes the credit for her win, as she establishes faith in herself.

Gauff has a simple and perfect plan of flowing easily to the top of the ranks. Setting up new goals after achieving the older ones is her only way of moving forward. There are certain similarities between Gauff and Djokovic. Especially the kind of players they are. Both of them run the court with an explosive mindset. But Gauff’s recent statement, similar to Djokovic’s, put more similarities between the two champs.

According to Planet Sport, Djokovic said, “I don’t want to say that I am the greatest because I feel it’s disrespectful. Towards all the great champions in different eras of our sport that were played in a completely different way than it is played today. So I leave that kind of discussions of who is the greatest to someone else. I have, of course, huge faith and confidence and belief in myself and for everything that I am who I am and what I am capable of doing. I feel incredibly proud, and fulfilled. Of course, the journey is still not over. I feel, if I’m winning slams, why even think about ending the career that already has been going on for 20 years”.

It’s apparent where Gauff takes her inspiration from. After looking at this statement from the Serb, things make sense: being confident, staying motivated, and setting new goals. That seems like the new formula for winning.

There is no need to compare her with the G.O.A.T since Gauff is quite young and new in the circuit. Although she is pioneering the WTA, she matches with enthusiasm similar to Novak. Also, it seems that she is pretty clear on what she wants and how she can get it.
