Over the past few years, American tennis star, Jessica Pegula, has been one of the top players on the WTA Tour. While Serena Williams called time on her illustrious career last year, it was important for someone to step in to carry American tennis forward. And Pegula has done just that, putting on consistent performances tournament after tournament. Recently, she opened up about her main goal in the sport and how she wants to inspire the next generation to take up the sport.

The 29-year-old is active not only in singles but also in doubles. She has partnered with Coco Gauff and the two are one of the top pairs in women’s doubles. Here’s what Pegula said about her aim and the opportunities available.

Recently, the American star was involved in The AO Show podcast. With the 2023 season wrapped up, she talked about her preparations for the upcoming season. Further, she also revealed what she’s trying to achieve and how she wants to inspire the younger generation.

Opening up about this, she said, “I think I’ve kind of wanted to take advantage of all opportunities I’ve been able to have the last few years especially so it’s always nice to get back. It’s nice to see that people see me as a as a role model in the sport.”

Further, she went on to add, “You know, I think that’s been my main goal or not my main goal, but one of my main goal is to get back to the sport as much as I can because I think as you get older, you realize how important it is to make an impact on the next generation or a group of fans. Whoever it is, it’s really important because the game is so much bigger than yourself.”

Pegula has been enjoying her time off the hectic schedule during the off-season. However, she has not lost her focus away from the sport. Recently, she joined a 52-year-old former pro for a noble cause.

Pegula’s heartfelt gesture

Earlier this week, the likes of Pegula and Taylor Townsend were spotted at a charity event. It was hosted by a legendary doubles star, Mark Knowles. The event was the Baha Mar Cup to encourage and support enthusiastic but underprivileged kids.

Talking about this, he said, “I continue to be so grateful to my former colleagues for taking time out of their busy schedules to come to the Bahamas and support my charity event, the Baha Mar Cup!”

The event raised around $120,000 that went to support kids who lacked basic facilities. It was a wonderful gesture by the likes of Pegula and Townsend, who took time off and graced the event.
