After the 23 Grand Slams winner announced her retirement, the world was devastated, and Gauff was no exception. But the teenager had a lot of takeaways from her. She constantly upped her game by watching the Williams sisters play. The rising star also stated that the former world number one, Serena is the reason she plays tennis.

Momma Smash had won 8 Grand Slam titles and ended up as a US Open runner-up in 2011, the year the 7th seed first held a tennis racket. But the age gap was never a barrier. So when WTA asked Gauff to pick her ideal Hockey team as a part of a short clip, the teen picked the 41-year-old to play the Center.

The young American said, “Okay, well, I guess the best one for this would be Serena Williams. You know her serve is probably the best serve ever, so I’ll pick her for that.”

Gauff, who once acted as Serena’s replacement, picked her perfect team and even included herself in it.
