Nearly 25 years ago, there was an American tennis player, Andrea Jaeger, who was the brat of the women’s tennis tour. The American tennis player, who played for a brief period, left the sport to help other kids find their true passion. And went on to became a nun to help children for a lifetime. But what made her switch her mind from tennis?
The American tennis player was a well-known tennis prodigy, but she had to give up playing because of injuries at a young age.

In this Cincinnati children’s hospital, the former tennis player is presently surrounded by young cancer survivors. The American tennis player’s life was drastically altered at an early age when she made a significant stride.
The tennis pro felt a tremendous draw toward assisting youngsters in need when she was just 20 years old. In an interview with Chicago Suntimes in 2018, she once discussed how she relied on God to direct her life; whether she should continue playing tennis or devote more time to aiding underprivileged children. The tennis star used to contribute significantly to philanthropic initiatives even back in her teenage playing days.
The tennis star, who was not even 20 at that time recollected a thought. She said that she “asked God to ‘decide’ whether she should be playing full-time or helping children full-time.” Additionally, in the mid-1980s, during the French Open, when her shoulder “popped.” Jaeger said, “I know God decided.” However, within a few years, the tennis star suffered a setback with injuries and left the tennis circuit knowing that even money or frame couldn’t bring her happiness.

Even money couldn’t compete with the happiness
In her teen years, the former American tennis player was highly competitive. When she was 18 years old, she was happy with the lavish prize money or the latest car models available at the time that she received as payment for winning tennis matches.

The tennis pro, though, found joy in giving that money to buy toys for hospitalized children fighting for their lives. At the age of 17, the tennis star owned a Mercedes Benz. But two years later she sold it and donated the proceeds to the hospital where she volunteered to aid the children.
