Losing a loved one is a heavy loss. Having to go through the gruesome process of keeping an ill family member healthy is even tougher. From celebrities to the general populace, everyone is familiar with both feelings. It is the one common thing about humanity. Receiving comfort from close ones and even people on the internet might help in dealing with the feeling of bereavement.

Tennis legend Chris Evert is no stranger to the feeling and also leaves an uplifting message for retired American Swimmer Nancy Hogshead.

Chris Evert leaves condolences for swimmer

In a recent post on Twitter, Nancy Hogshead-Makar, three-time Olympic gold medalist, talked about the passing of her mother. She stated that she was with her for her final days, right on the bed next to her. She further said that she couldn’t imagine not being with her mother for her last moments. The comment was in reply to a user who gave condolences to Hogshead in her Twitter post, announcing her mother’s passing.

The user also stated that they were empathetic as they went through the same thing but weren’t able to be with their mother due to 2020 Covid restrictions.

Brutal. I’m so sorry. As hard as this is, I can’t imagine being barred from comforting her during her passing. She was afraid. You can’t really tell in this picture, but I’m holding her hand. This was my spot for 4 days – it was very comfortable,” was the reply left by Hogshead.

The 21-time Grand Slam winner, Chris Evert, also left condolences for the swimmer. She called her a wonderful daughter for taking care of her mother and said sorry for her loss. “You are a wonderful daughter, Nancy I’m sorry for your loss…”

Evert went through something similar when she lost her father, Jimmy Evert, due to pneumonia in 2015. She also lost her sister, Jeanne Evert, due to cancer in 2020.

Meanwhile, Evert also went through the same thing in her life as her sister. She was diagnosed with ovarian cancer last year.

Her ex-husband, Andy Miller, was there with her throughout her cancer treatment.. Miller accompanied Evert to all of her chemotherapy sessions. Fortunately, she is now cancer free.

This gesture goes to show that everyone needs help in tough times.
